For future Voat historians

No one has really done a thorough job of telling the story of Voat, that I've seen. The knowledge is scattered among the viewpoints of many users who all joined at different stages. I'm starting this thread, here, so that people can contribute their thoughts -- and more importantly, their links -- for those interested in this topic or who may want to write something up in at some point.

To get us started, here is an interesting final thread by @redpilldessert who spent his last hours on Voat archiving important threads "for future Voat historians": https://searchvoat.co/v/whatever/4174408

I just read the Wikipedia entry for Voat, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voat, and it's got most of the meat in there as a jumping off point. I started working on this a long while back and I might still have some links. Maybe. Fingers crossed. Also, while it's still on the tip of my tongue, I *think* I recall that there was another iteration/name of the site before WhoaVerse ("who-a-verse" ;) lmfao). Edit to note, 26 May 2015 was my Voat birthday.

Edit2: I found a slice of the research I'd started, which was a post that pornhub_katie started to document all the waves to Voat from Reddit: https://searchvoat.co/v/MuseumOfVoat/926268. This particular sub had a few gold nuggets but this, https://archive.is/avclB, was all I could find at archive, last archived Nov 2015.

Edit3: Success!1! at wayback machine, http://web.archive.org/web/202012221130 ... seumofvoat.

Edit 4/PostScript: Voat's path changed during the course of her life. If you come across a link with the word "comments" in it, delete the word should you want to find something here at SearchVoat. EG, https://voat.co/v/GreatQuotes/COMMENTS/916675 -->> https://SEARCHvoat.co/v/GreatQuotes/916675

Some of the early stuff is actually documented in a sub called MuseumofVoat https://searchvoat.co/search.php?s=MuseumOfVoat

Oh, I didn't read through Cynabuns comment, she pointed it out.
