So I was hashing it out, looking into stuff myself and noticed something that I've not seen anyone talk about.
Putt said he was going to get on a regular schedule to post updates.

I will get on a regular schedule after this month by posting a GOAT statement on the 1st (or closest business day after) starting next month.
That was 11 months ago.
To me thats more fishy than anything else. I don't know or understand anything bitcoin. I don't care about what people say about his "tone" on a certain day. I don't even really care that he doesn't fix bugs too often. But saying you're going to do something (something this simple) and then just not doing it rubs me the wrong way.

Problem is I don't have the time manage Voat as a business. I'd think that just keeping it up and running (mostly) would satisfy users but people always want more from me.
It's like people think I have nothing but Voat in my life and I'm just flat out neglecting it.
I can't do enough to satisfy this community.
Plus I'm burned out big time. I'd invite anyone to put the amount of hours I've put into Voat over more than THREE YEARS, not ever getting paid for a single one, writing a massive ground breaking framework to give the community a new voice (BY MYSELF), only to be met with an onslaught of criticism and anger and then to treat Voat as a priority.
It's not a conspiracy. It's rather simple.

@puttitout both sides have legit causes for concern. i know you get a ton of message spam but please hear me out.
the users aren't ungrateful (well some of them are but that's just how it goes) they're just ignorant. they don't see all the work you do and the hours you put in behind the scenes so you can't really blame them too much for not understanding that. to them voat is like a utility service and they don't really know how or why it works it just does, and to the extent they do understand i think they are grateful. and it doesn't help that communication from the admins to the userbase has always been a major weak point of this site. and when the site crashes for a week and the admin is awol you can hardly blame people for being a little worried.
aside from that as the boss it is incumbent upon you to communicate to the users when you are upset or burned out or whatever is going on and not expect everyone to be a mind reader. that could be as simple as writing a post on /v/announcements, updating a twitter, a blog, etc. it doesn't have to be a big thing. and if you need help you need to tell us that. and then you need to actually let people do it! a lot of people here would gladly step up if you only asked and offered them an opportunity. people beg to donate and help in various ways and are met with radio silence, vague/empty promises, etc meanwhile the store and donations are broken/offline. that is just unacceptable.
as for people not appreciating your changes that you worked really hard on all i can say is try to understand human nature and be reasonable and look at it from their point of view. it's great that you want to improve the site and worked hard on it but at the same time a lot of people might like the site the way it is and/or they might be okay with changes but might not understand where you are trying to go. either way when you take something people love and start changing it, even if it's for the better, a certain percentage are going to get upset about that. this is human nature, it's not personal my dude.
if this site has any chance of long-term survival is absolutely crtitical to be realistic and open and honest with yourself as well as the users about where you stand in terms of the commitment level to the site and long term plans as well as your own abilities and weaknesses. for example maybe you enjoy programming but aren't a business guy or don't like being a system admin, whatever. that's okay, but if you totally neglect these aspects it's going to lead to our demise. and this isn't just an internet thing - it happens all the time in the business world. people start companies and neglect the areas they don't like or aren't good at and focus on their favorite parts. a business cannot survive that way. and that's exactly how this web site should be run as, a business. right now it's being run like your hobby that you only pay attention to when you feel like it and aren't busy with other things (and you're working full time elsewhere so it's no wonder you feel pulled in many directions).
whatever the case, at this point it seems fairly obvious things aren't in a good state. and it is never acceptable for a responsible site admin to be totally awol (like you are most of the time) and specifically not to allow what happened over the past weeks to occur. if you honestly feel that is ok and that the users are just ungrateful and you don't owe them anything and you're getting a raw deal then i really think the best thing to do at this point would be to take a deep breath, think about it hard and make sure, and let people know you are done and make arrangements for an orderly transition to someone else (or if you won't do that at least let everyone know what is coming). otherwise if you keep going the way things have been if not fair to yourself or anyone else and it's only going to end in tears one way or another.
or i guess we can keep doing what we're doing and the site will just randomly disappear one day when you either get sick of it or something happens to you and noone knows what to do. i really think after everything we've built here that would be a shame and i think you are better than that.
whatever happens, thanks for your and @atko 's hard work over the years. it's been fun.

you can go online and find atif colo's skype, home address, and phone number, vacation pictures, etc.
there is no justin chastain associated to @puttitout, and there's never been any proof that anyone named justin chastain is behind the puttitout account.
without evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, all i have to go on is that a year ago, on the same day, the devs of the main voat image host sli.mg and atko and puttitout all disappeared. on the same fucking day. atko and putt returned a month and two months later, acting like entirely different people. from friendly joking and engaged, transparent and pro-speech - - to angry, aloof, and detached, completely non-transparent with the users, and since then have massively censored the site and banned hundreds of users for simply upvoting.
check my top and bottom most comments and posts to start down the rabbit hole.
@peaceseeker is a paid shill for the group that took voat over. just a mouthpiece/propaganda account.

i am familiar with the events you speak of. i've been around since the beginning. you and i were friends a long time ago in a galaxy far away. i cut ties with voat a while ago and don't participate anymore except for every now and then. as for what it all means.... well, the jury is still out. i have my suspicions but i've been waiting for the other shoe to drop for what seems like too many years at this point. i figure it's unlikely putt would listen to what i wrote but i might regret it if i didn't at least try. i don't know anything about peaceseeker other than they seemed to have some kind of inside track on things so i pinged them but they pretty much said they have no information or influence so that is probably a dead end. in any case i think it's rad you're still around and doing your thing. i know you get a lot of hate on here and i don't agree with everything you do but you are a part of voat and i am glad you are around.
