True but it excels in close air support. It can fly low and slow and the pilot is protected from ground fire with the armored cockpit and the twin engines improves survivability in combat situations. The GAU-8/A Avenger 30mm cannon with depleted uranium rounds can penetrate Main battle tank armor and can shred soft skinned vehicles and penetrate concrete. Perfect plane for the job.
