I don't have direct experience. What I do know is these boards are prone to PHP injection attacks and other exploits. All doable by script kiddie tools.

Do not post anything with your admin account (and don't call it admin).

First thing to do is disable the ability to upload anything to the server (images, files, etc., especially user avatars) and lock settings folder as read only.

the cool thing is this board is probably the most customizable and supported one there is.. since it is long standing.

I'm willing to help. I'm a bit constrained on time atm, but ping me if you got something specific.

Let's see if we can keep voat going and decentralize it!

I ran (owner and admin) forums and shit based off Simple Machines for years, some phpBB as well. I can lock shit down, and the nice thing is life is fairly uncomplicated at the moment. I work overnights, which is suck for some things, but lmk if I can help.

I have been site admin on a phpbb board between 07 and 12, so I could help you. And since I am in European timezone, that may be of a benefit.

Let me know what you need.

I don't have phpBB experience but I do know some stuff about Linux/Apache/Maria/PHP programming and configuration. Let me know if you think of anything I can do for you.

I ran phpBB sites before but it was a long time ago. I am a unix/storage guy and do it for a living.

If you need anything I can probably help but it seems there are many of us.
