I'm coming round to the idea that instead of simply "NSFW", forums could get one or more of a series of tags: Nudity, Gore, Pedo (not actual CP of course but stories and lolicon).
I still have this fond ambition - which might be impossible to achieve - of a site we can share with normie train enthusiasts or whatever and they can just uncheck the button that says "Hate" or something and they don't see v/Jews, v/Niggers, v/HitlerWasRight... v/14Words?
If there's no tagging of those subs at all, the normie takes one look at this place and either leaves for good, or launches an attack. I'd prefer they stay around and start to make a commitment to the place - then when they get curious about what the cool kids are talking about they can go and browse those naughty forbidden subs.
Seems to me that would be a more constructive use of the material we're gathering here.
Thoughts? Constructive ones are good but I'm ok with abuse too if that's your thing.

Re: Forum tags in place of NSFW
Voaters are not known to be offended by NSFW content, unless it's gore or porn posted in an inappropriate place, so I am not sure who you are trying to appeal to. I just don't see anyone who was never associated with voat joining this place. Unless you plan on rebranding at some point. But the web is filled with controlled/filtered content. Freedom is one reason voat was so great and successful. Why do you want to appeal to normies? Is it to cover your ass ? Or do you have a vision for this place?

Well, this guy sure was, despite being somewhat active on voat in politics, pizzagate and GA. Sure, just one guy, but I've had numerous emails from sad fundamentalist Christian Voaters, missing GA and QRV I guess.
Of course I hope to attract new users, whether that requires a name change or not. I don't understand how appealing to normies would cover my ass, when I've already said that I want all US-legal speech to be acceptable here.
I don't think forum tags need have a negative effect on freedom.
My vision: a shared platform for people to say anything, and who therefore will often viscerally disagree with each other. The only way that works is, it has to be easy to ignore your opposition on a day-to-day basis and jump into a fight only when you feel like it.
Or something like that. Spitballing.

Fair enough. I would balance this the same way voat did. The issue I want to avoid is the obsession with categorization that other sites suffer from. So posters should have leniency on where they decide to post. Only when a poster is being malicious and intentional with miscatagorizing content (ie: Joe McCarthy) should any action be taken.SearchVoat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 7:25 amWell, this guy sure was, despite being somewhat active on voat in politics, pizzagate and GA. Ask him to define this word he keeps using. Maybe there should be a context.

Re: Forum tags in place of NSFW
Hey, anything on these forums can be NSFW these days in any office or social environment...
So just give a brief definition of NSFW (i.e., this could include nudity, pedo, gore etc...), ask people to please mark it NSFW for others to know it’s unsafe with a nice warning that “if you read anything here motherfucker, be prepared to either (a) have terrible nightmares/bedwetting or (b) your boss knows you’ve seen it so clean out your desk and go the fuck home...you’re ass is fired!”
Then let each fucker here decide what they want to open...
Maybe on their parents computer while living in their basement...or on their girlfriend’s phone?

Sure they do. You're just re-implementing the "quarantine" rules that Reddit did. "Naughty" speech gets roped off into a back alley from the "normie" speech, whatever the fuck that is. An "It's okay to be white" sign is an offense to normies that demands investigation.SearchVoat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 05, 2021 7:25 am I don't think forum tags need have a negative effect on freedom.
