Just a random thought that came to me, I have never provided a detailed post explaining how to block users here.
Time to rectify that!
Click on their username, click on Add Foe. Should mostly hide them. Let me know if they somehow manage to creep back into your timeline.
There used to be a bug where you couldn't block moderators and admins, but that's been fixed.
