Don't quite see the problem. In this day and age of Escom blackouts, we need streets lights. If the only way to light up the streets is by setting cars and trucks alight then so be it.

You think the Apartheid racists did it any differently? In the 80's and 90's they had schedules of which cars to set alight during the night in order to provide street lighting to last until morning. Jaguars and Land Rovers burned the longest, btw.

I used to do that job years back, we had gun ports on the trucks - little metal flaps that would open that you could stick a barrel out of and shoot. They welded them all shut and said it was now forbidden. The money was insured, they didn't back their employees that shot in self defense, it made us wonder why have armored transports at all.

That job is pretty much a death sentence in SA. They are armed, but what are you going to do when a bunch of kaffers bomb you.
