South Africa: farmer's wife saves his life during attack, kills bantu attacker

A farmer's wife saved his life by fighting his attacker with the attacker's own weapon. (The weapon in question is a "knopkierie", a traditional bantu weapon, basically a wooden stick with a lump on the end for bashing you over the head).

The couple arrived home on their farm to find one of their dogs missing. When the lady went around the back of the house to investigate, she found the dog head, then she heard her husband shouting.

When she went to see what was going on, she saw her husband being attacked with a knopkierie. The attacker was sitting on top of her husband at the time. The attacker somehow dropped the weapon and she grabbed it and hit the attacker with it. The attacker was fatally wounded.

The farmer was taken to hospital. A knife and bloody shovel were also found. The couple's one dog had been stabbed to death.
