You do not have the freedom you have here. Not even close. Their voting policy of only upvotes is a joke.

Up/down votes go hand in hand. If you have one you HAVE to have the other. Is simple balance. At first I'm sure the lack of proper discourse won't bother you much, but I guarantee you will go for that downvote button by instinct many times a day and then censor yourself. This is unacceptable.

The issue here was that people would just downvote everything anyone posted out of spite for disagreeing with them.

Every post and comment I made here, and every post and comment a lot of other people made here got downvoted by people purely because they did not like us, not because of what we were actually saying. More than that though, down voting people to try and censor them (what down voting effectively did here), unless it is genuine faggots or spammers, is not productive.

Downvotes make your comment disappear on most sites. Sometimes reaching a certain threshold of downvotes gets you booted off the site. I am convinced that leftists coordinate their downvoting/silencing tactics, calling them in like airstrikes, and then gloating. It must be very frustrating for them not to be able to do this, so I am glad that they are disabled.
