Unpopular opinion: this is better than Voat.

Voat was great except for the fact that it was a reddit clone.

Reddit by design gives every user 1 vote, because it is programmed by people who believe equality is true. The software is effectively leftist propaganda because of that alone.

Since equality is not true, old VBulletin type message boards with reputation power systems are far better, because then situations arise where the proven quality people have outsized influence whereas newbies and the proven inferior have really no influence.

The reason for the transition sucks and I hate to lose Voat, but this is ultimately a step in the direction of sanity.

Not gonna lie, it feels pretty cozy to be back on a bb forum. Haven't used one since before my Digg days.

I like this BB style for posting so I can see headlines, then all the related comments only if I want. The other options seem to be more like Twitter or chat rooms, and you have to "friend" people to see their posts, but then it comes in all scattered, not organized like this format.

I've always loved this forum layout, but have rarely had cause to use them as forums like this are typically for very niche communities, not broad aggregators like Voat. To have a Voat aggregator culture transfused into a bb forum is very interesting.

"Aggregator culture," I never thought of that but it's on point.

I guess BBs instead favor authorship culture, forcing people to actually express ideas well, but there's no reason they couldn't be used to aggregate. I wonder if they could be rigged to sort by thread or post upvotes instead of by thread age or thread bumps. Then, we'd have the best of both worlds. Note to whoever runs this place.

I didn't have the good luck to visit Voat during the extremely short window when I could've gotten the holy password. Sucks, but what can I do?
