Kee Bird was a B-29 that crashed in the arctic on 21 Feb 1947 on a flight from Alaska to Thule Greenland. I was up north helping to deliver a grader to a station in the arctic and we flew over the plane in 1992. I was standing behind the pilot when I took the photo. I was amazed it turned out as well as it did considering we were flying at 1000ft at 300 knots.
Videos of Kee Bird that tells the whole story.

Cool shot! I remember seeing that NOVA video. I was fucking pissed that he tried to just hurry up and take off with it. He jinxed it. The main guy that funded and guided that whole recovery project ended up dying. Had he lived I think it would have flown again.
