Move back to original host?

Post by SearchVoat »

Looks to me like there are frequent dropouts on this web host. Also that response times are often as long as 4 secs. Considering moving back to my own host as it was pre-January 20.

Any comments?

What's a dropout? (in your best techtard, please)
Is it a burden to use your own host?
If there is anything you need, just ask. OK?

I keep getting notifications from my uptime monitor that the site's down, and even when it's up it's often getting > 4 sec response time. That's pretty bad imo.

Not your experience?

I didn't log on at my 'normal' time this morning, was late by a few hours. When I did, there was only one notification, and nothing else. Came back about an hour later, and all the sudden there were notifications, that i should have received the first time. Is that what you mean?

Cool website.

I noticed that I get connection errors and have to refresh. I don't mind it, it really isn't comparable to the downtime with Voat.co. It doesn't seem to affect posting, when I hit submit and it gives the connection error, I always feel like I just lost all the text I entered. But, I hit the back button, it's still there - so it really doesn't affect things yet.

What would moving back to your own host consist of? I recall you said you didn't have the storage for i.ruqqus data, but you might for the comments. Would moving change your storage limits?

Also, do you need help with hosting costs?

Same experiences as above, minor delays occasionally, barely noticeable.
Still best voat :)

Haven't noticed any issues, but I'm not as active a user as others here.
Is there a way you could balance new content on the more responsive server and then migrate it to the problematic one after a set period, say, a couple of days or so, since it won't be seeing as much use/replies?

It appears that this has occurred mostly in this month. Could it be due to recent changes? I have not run into any error while browsing here.

I got a few weird errors recently where I couldn't access the site. Error message said to contact web admin. But a minute later when I tried again it worked. Wasn't a big deal for me. Thanks again for giving us somewhere to hang out. Reminder that while everyone else was scratching their behinds while voat was falling over, @SearchVoat was making this place for us.
