As Greg Barnes SC puts it:
This denial of bail follows the recent denial of extradition ruling which Baraitser delivered on Monday wherein Baraitser's decision to deny extradition was based on the grounds that Assange's risk of successfully committing suicide was too great due to U.S. prison conditions and specifically the conditions Assange would be likely to face should he be extradited. Despite the ultimate ruling, Baraitser effectively sided with the prosecution's case in full and parroted CIA/DOJ talking points and even went so far as to state that Wikileaks content (such as the exposure of U.S. war crimes and other international corruption) is not within the realm of public interest. U.S. prosecutors expect to file an appeal against the denial of extradition within 14 days. This decision means #Assange continues to be subjected to horrendous prison conditions.
Australian government must advocate to its ally in Washington NOW that case against this Australian citizen ends immediately

Without bail, Julian Assange will therefore remain in Belmarsh prison for the duration of the appeal proceedings.
