Is Genesis History?

I heard an interesting theory that genesis is about the first agricultural revolution, the garden/paradise being in reference to pre historic men being hunter gatherers until women began planting crops, which to my understanding is the currently accepted consensus about ancient ancient history. I'm guessing switching from scavengers to farmers was probably a pretty miserable transition at first, especially when not much was known about farming.
