White House backs D.C. statehood final House vote to come
The White House said making D.C. a state "will make our Union stronger and more just."
Biden administration "strongly supports" the passage of H.R. 51, The Washington, D.C. Admission Act, and that the measure would "right this wrong" of "taxation without representation."
Democrats see the measure as an opportunity to pad their House and Senate majorities with the predominantly progressive District adding two new safely Democratic Senate seats and one safe new House seat. Republicans oppose the measure,
