ACRO is hosted by Hampshire Constabulary. Our policing powers derive from having a chief superintendent from the constabulary in position as the Head of ACRO. All ACRO staff are employees of the force.
They seem from the description to be quasi official, with official backing and their income goes to support police functions (taxes not enough?)
Among other things , they issue :
International Child Protection Certificates (ICPCs) are for people looking to work abroad with children. They confirm whether or not the individual has a relevant criminal history in the UK and help employers make decisions about who to recruit. They aim to prevent child sex offenders from gaining access to vulnerable young people overseas. ACRO provides this service in partnership with the NCA-CEOP Command.

Circulated on Alphonse Faggiolo's group. The fact is the money goes to a private corpration, not the public purse. It's like a traffic officer issuing you a fine and you paying him into his personal bank account.

Except they like to keep it quasi legal so it’s not technically illegal, and the money doesn’t go directly into a personal account, it’s only indirectly despicable and immoralThe fact is the money goes to a private corpration, not the public purse.
