Can we have a “questions” sub?

If this sounds stupid, let me explain by giving you an example.

Example: Without the benefit of listening to police calls in your local area (which I do through a police scanner app sometimes—- traffic stops, burglar alarms at businesses, suicide attempts, 50+ People congregating at apartment complexes, apartment neighbors screaming and pounding on walls, etc,.—-and as interesting as some of the calls are), how do you know what crimes are happening near you or in your community?

Yes, I know about websites like www.spotcrime.com, but we really don’t get a full list of “all” police calls in our community.

In our area, the newspaper reports general crimes each week...lots of people outside our community committing crimes inside our community...

I think our county has thousands of police calls each year (based on the limited time I spend listening on scanner), yet we are only given a snippet of calls in the newspaper.

Other than contacting my sleepy county commissioner and police department, I’m not sure if anyone else has struggled with this “transparency” issue?

Thanks for listening.

Don’t citizens have a right to know how and what police are responding to in addition to normal speed traps?
