[Spatial omics is an overarching term for different technologies that allow overlaying of -omics data onto tissue images. Beyond the identification of molecular subpopulations of cell, these approaches thus provide information on the spatial localization of the identified subpopulations within the tissue of origin, their proximity with each other and with the extra-cellular matrix, blood vessels and other tissue components.
