Re: Poal thoughts
Yesterday I found poal Qstorm and poal in general more useful than what was offered on ruqqus. Initially I wasn't that attracted to use poal, but it's a much better fit for goats than the known alternatives imho.
Re: Poal thoughts
Seems to be a recurring theme at poal.DawnRazor wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 5:25 pm I just deleted my account there five minutes ago, the impetus being how I was handled by their administration while requesting ownership of a sub I hadn't even asked for in the first place, but was handed to me. All around me people were rejected and accepted in 40 minutes or at least spoken to and I hung out there like an asshole for like 15 hours with no comment and then the sub went back to its original owner, also with no comment They obviously think we are unmannered and this is acceptable. I don't like the tone from the top and they are not getting my thoughts or opinions.

I'm sort of the POAL(er) opposite...Thisismyvoatusername wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 3:41 pm I like to dance while I peruse Poal, because then I can call myself a Poal dancer.

Heads-up, I tried to quote you in my response, but may have accidentally reported you, sorry about that.Thisismyvoatusername wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 3:41 pm I like to dance while I peruse Poal, because then I can call myself a Poal dancer.
Looks like the fake report was closed instantly... So hopefully no consequences....

Re: Poal thoughts
It's like I tried to warn people, if Voat was an example of a site with too little admin involvement, Poal is an example of one with way too much. You can say what you want about Putt, but he let people talk shit about him on his own platform all the time. As soon as the "angel investor" appeared, he became Putt the kike and had countless threads posted about him and the PIA conspiracy. That apparently doesn't fly on Poal. The admins have pretty thin skin, and will shut down anyone they deem to be on their shit list. Is that not what so many of us were trying to escape when we left Reddit?
It looks like a lot of conflict stems from their attempted micromanaging of the whatever sub. There's a post stickied over there about how not using this or that other sub instead of whatever leaves them to languish. I understand the logic, but what they don't seem to get is that moving discussions to these dead subs to pad them out has a chilling effect on the discussions themselves, because then fewer will see it. People are posting to whatever for the express purpose of having their post seen by more people.
All that posting stuff really doesn't bother me, because I only hang out on all/new of any place I lurk. And I never post anything myself, because I doubt that I have access to any info that anyone here hasn't already seen. Posting stuff I've created seems like self promotion, which I've always considered to be lame. My problem is the scarlet letter for downvoting. I LOVE downvoting stuff. And yes, the downvote button is for stuff I disagree with. Can we just be honest with ourselves? It really is. I've certainly never downvoted someone for agreeing with me. One of my favorite things on Voat was watching people downvote actual news, just because they didn't like it. Stupid as hell, but also makes you feel like you're not alone in hating that news. Because fuck that news.

Re: Poal thoughts
No worries. I downvoted someone unintentionally a while back, but I couldn't figure out how to undo it and then lost it so I couldn't even go back. Shit happens and these are only fake internet points anyway.

Re: Poal thoughts
Poal is like kicking Heroin by substituting methadone...
It does the trick, barely, but it leaves you longing for the real thing.

Re: Poal thoughts
Nailed it with the micromanagement comment. In my humble opinion, this place is closest to the real thing. The more people become disillusioned with poal, the more of them we'll see here I guess.

Re: Poal thoughts
It can be used as a dislike button, but at that point you're probably not having a constructive argument and are just hurling shit at each other. This site could definitely be out home. Idk why we as a collective didn't really consider that. I can learn to love this place in all of it's old forums website glory.SmokeyMeadow wrote: ↑Thu Jan 07, 2021 11:40 pm It's like I tried to warn people, if Voat was an example of a site with too little admin involvement, Poal is an example of one with way too much.
