Paul's Contradictions of Jesus

It's not about the times paul agrees with Jesus.
It's all about the times he doesn't.
Once is too much.

pauls contradictions to Messiah are sourced in the article.
• Jesus Says The Law Continues, But Paul Says No.
Genesis 9:4; Exodus 20:3-17; Leviticus 6:1-8; Leviticus 20:2; Leviticus 17 and 22; Leviticus 25:4; Deuteronomy 13:5; Deuteronomy 14:21; isaiah 56:1-7; Matthew 5:17-19; Luke 16:16-17; Matthew 23:1-15
Paul's View on the Law. Romans 10:4; Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:14-17; 2 Corinthians 3:11-17; Romans 3:27; Romans 4:15; Romans 7:1-6; Galatians 2:16; Galatians 3:19-21; Galatians 5:1
• Paul Says The Pharisees Followed The Law Rigorously, But Jesus Says They Were Lax About The Law.
Matthew 5:19; Matthew 15:6,9; Matthew 23:23
Acts 26:5; Philippians 3:5-6
• Jesus Says Salvation Initiates And Continues By Repentance From Sin and Obedience Besides Faith; Paul Says This is Heresy.
Jesus: The one who repents from sin is "justified." Luke 18:10-14.
The son who was dead but now repents from life of sin with prostitutes is "alive again"(born again). Luke 15:1-32
Paul: One is not justified nor born again by repentance from sin, but by faith alone. Eph. 2:8-9; Rom. 4:4; Romans 3:28

Jesus: The one who relies upon God's election to salvation and does not repent goes home unjustified. Luke 18:10-14
Paul: The one who relies upon God's election alone for salvation is relying on the right thing. Rom. 8:33; God elects you to salvation by means of predestination, and hence without any work on your part. Faith is given to you as part of God's work in you. Phil 1:6

Jesus: To have eternal life, follow the Ten Commandments, deny yourself and then follow Jesus. If you give up fathers, mothers, and brothers for Jesus, deny yourself, take up your cross, and "follow Me," you "shall have eternal life." Matthew 19:27-29; Matthew 10:37-39; John 12:25-26.
Paul: To have eternal life, say with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe He is resurrected. Rom. 10:9; 1 Cor. 15:1-5. Do not add any work. Rom. 4:4. If salvation depends on keeping the Law, then salvation by faith is made void. Rom.4:14. “For no one is put right in God’s sight by doing what the Law requires; what the Law does is to make man know he sinned.” Rom. 3:20.

Jesus: A Christian will go to hell if they deny Christ under pressure. Luke 12:4-9.
Paul: If we deny Jesus, He will deny us, but in the end God will still accept us because He cannot deny Himself. 2 Tim. 2:12-13.

Jesus: Jesus tells a rich and obviously greedy man to repent by giving his wealth to the poor. The man is grieved. Matthew 19:16-26; Mark 10:17-31; Luke 18:18-26. Jesus tells another rich man who repents and repays those he stole from that "Today salvation has come to this house...." Luke 19:9.
Paul: Salvation could not possibly depend on any works of repentance. Salvation is by faith alone. Eph.2:8-9; Rom. 4:4.

Jesus: Salvation is based on God forgiving your sin. If you do not forgive others after you receive forgiveness, God will revoke your forgiveness. Matt. 18:28-35; cf. Matt. 6:12.
Paul: Salvation is not contingent on your forgiving others. Salvation only has one condition: a one-time faith. Romans 4:4. If you ever once had faith (Romans 10:9), you are no longer able to be condemned. Romans 8:1.

Jesus: Jesus promised those who "kept guard" of His word "should never taste death." John 8:51. "He who continues to trust/believe/obey unto the Son should be saved." John 3:16. He who continues to "disobey" the Son continues to be under God's wrath. John 3:36. (Obey unto, is the actual meaning of pisteuos)
Paul: Only a one-time faith that Jesus died for sin and resurrected (1 Cor. 15:1-5) is necessary for salvation. Romans 4:4. One could fail to keep and guard Jesus' word and still be saved because one is eternally secure based on a one-time faith. Romans 8:1, 10:9.

Jesus: Jesus said "a branch in me" that produces no fruit because it failed to keep staying "in me" will be thrown "outside" the vineyard. It is as a branch that died. It is gathered up into the fire and is burned. John 15:1-6.
Paul: Salvation is by faith without any works. Romans 4:4, 14; Eph. 2:8-9.

Jesus: A servant of Jesus who produces no fruit is useless, and he will be "thrown...into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." (Matt. 25:14) This place of weeping and gnashing is the "fiery furnace." (Matt. 13:42, 50.)
Paul: Salvation is by faith without any works. Romans 4:4, 14; Eph. 2:8-9.

Jesus: If you receive the word with joy and "believe for a while," but in time of temptation, you fall away, you are lost. If you are choked by the pleasures of this world, and bring no fruit to completion, you are lost. If on the other hand, you bring forth fruit to the end, in patient endurance, you will be saved. (Luke 8:13-15.) You "shall be saved" if you "endured to the end." (Matt. 10:22.)
Paul: OSAS - There is no need to endure in faith as long as you believed once. Romans 8:1; 10:9: Romans 4:4, 14; Eph. 2:8-9

Jesus: Among the sheep and goats who both call Jesus Lord, the group who serves Jesus by feeding the brethren in need, clothing them, and giving them water, goes to heaven. The other group who calls Jesus Lord but who fails to provide such charity are, as a consequence, sent to "eternal fire." (Matt. 25:32). A faith that ignores the poor brethren is "dead" and "cannot save." (James 2:14-17.) "Every tree therefore that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." (Matt. 7:19.)
Paul: OSAS - No need to be charitable. Romans 10:13; Romans 4:4, 14; Eph. 2:8-9.

Jesus: "I keep telling you the one who keeps on listening to my teaching and keeps on believing in [truly means "obeying to"] the one who sent me keeps on having eternal life and does not come into condemnation but has departed out of death into life." John 5:24.
Paul: Once in Christ, there is now no condemnation (Romans 8:1). This entry is by a one-time faith. (Rom. 10:9).

Thanks SWMBO, I'm interested in this but there are too many examples! In building up the "weight of evidence" by sheer quantity they've necessarily included some which are a bit dubious and unconvincing, which probably detract from the better ones.

I'd be looking for, say, 2 or 3 good examples of clear differences between Paul's and Jesus' teachings.

I've often thought that Paul was the "showman" who took Jesus on the road and made him popular. We should certainly thank Paul for that, but it does raise questions about his authenticity.

Jesus Says Not To Eat Meat Sacrificed to Idols, But Paul Says It Is Ok.
Paul did not know about DNA, hormones, or any other science. He thought that meat from a pagan temple sacrifice couldn't be different from other meat. But that's not true.
The Hebrew laws about meat eating include humane killing of the animal, and draining of the blood. Good hunters know this, why doesn't paul?
The pagans would torture and terrify the sacrifice to maximize the amount of adrenalin in the blood. We aren't even supposed to eat blood. Paul could not have known the science and why Yahuah told us not to eat blood. His god was a false god. And not very good scientist.

God said.
Genesis 9:4 King James Version
But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Jesus' words.
Rev. 2:6 (Ephesus)
But you have this to your credit: You hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
Rev. 2:14-15 (Pergamum)
14 But I have a few things against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. 15 In the same way, some of you also hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
Revelation 2:20 (Thyatira)
But I have against thee a few things: That thou dost suffer the woman Jezebel, who is calling herself a prophetess, to teach, and to lead astray, my servants to commit whoredom, and idol-sacrifices to eat.
James' ruling at the Jerusalem Council.
Acts 15:20
but to write to them to abstain from the pollutions of the idols, and the whoredom, and the strangled thing; and the blood.
Acts 21:25
And concerning those of the nations who have believed, we have written, having given judgment, that they observe no such thing, except to keep themselves both from idol-sacrifices, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom.
Acts 15:29
to abstain from things offered to idols, and blood, and a strangled thing, and whoredom; from which keeping yourselves, ye shall do well; be strong!
Paul taught.

1 Corinthians 8:4-13
Contemporary English Version
This is the clearest version of Paul's word salad I could find.
8:4-6
4 Even though food is offered to idols, we know that none of the idols in this world are alive. After all, there is only one God.
5 Many things in heaven and on earth are called gods and lords, but none of them really are gods or lords.
6 We have only one God, and he is the Father. He created everything, and we live for him. Jesus Christ is our only Lord. Everything was made by him, and by him life was given to us.
I wonder if satan knows he's not a god (elohim). Or that he is not a lord (master, ruler), over anyone? What about the Prince of Persia? Mastima? Gabriel? Michael? Raphael?
Didn't Paul ever read Enoch? You know, in the temple, studying to be a pharisee? Didn't anyone teach him about 'the gods'? Musta went to a 'Public Synagogue'.
8:7-8
7 Not everyone knows these things. In fact, many people have grown up with the belief that idols have life in them. So when they eat meat offered to idols, they are bothered by a weak conscience.
8 But food doesn't bring us any closer to God. We are no worse off if we don't eat, and we are no better off if we do.
The people who grew up in pagan temples witnessed their 'meat' being tortured, killed and cooked. Drank blood. Ate blood pudding. What about the cannibalistic idol worshipers? Learn from pagan history and science.
8:9-10
9 Don't cause problems for someone with a weak conscience, just because you have the right to eat anything.
10 You know all this, and so it doesn't bother you to eat in the temple of an idol. But suppose a person with a weak conscience sees you and decides to eat food that has been offered to idols.
You have the right to eat anything, just don't get caught? Bullshit!
8:11-13
11 Then what you know has destroyed someone Christ died for.
12 When you sin by hurting a follower with a weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13 So if I hurt one of the Lord's followers by what I eat, I will never eat meat as long as I live.
What a Drama Queen. How about if we just Stay Out of Pagan Temples! easy-peasy.

1 Corinthians 10:19-29
Contemporary English Version
19 Am I saying that either the idols or the food sacrificed to them is anything at all?
20 No, I am not! This food is really sacrificed to demons and not to God. I don't want you to have anything to do with demons.
21 You cannot drink from the cup of demons and still drink from the Lord's cup. You cannot eat at the table of demons and still eat at the Lord's table.
22 We would make the Lord jealous if we did this. And we are not stronger than the Lord.
But Paul said earlier,
4 Even though food is offered to idols, we know that none of the idols in this world are alive. After all, there is only one God.
5 Many things in heaven and on earth are called gods and lords, but none of them really are gods or lords.
I wish he'd make up his mind. What a yoyo.
8:23-26
23 Some of you say, “We can do whatever we want to!” But I tell you not everything may be good or helpful.
24 We should think about others and not about ourselves.
25 However, when you buy meat in the market, go ahead and eat it. Keep your conscience clear by not asking where the meat came from. 26 The Scriptures say, “The earth and everything in it belong to the Lord.”
Paul already said, "You have the right to eat anything". Didn't he?
However, when you buy meat in the market, go ahead and eat it.

Not a very good piece of advice. Definitely the 'Dumbest Man Ever'.
8:27-29
27 If an unbeliever invites you to dinner, and you want to go, then go. Eat whatever you are served. Don't cause a problem for someone's conscience by asking where the food came from.
28-29 But if you are told it has been sacrificed to idols, don't cause a problem by eating it. I don't mean a problem for yourself, but for the one who told you. Why should my freedom be limited by someone else's conscience?
"Why should my freedom be limited?"
And there it is.

Widows
Jesus gave no marriage law to widows.
The OT is filled with commands to help widows, orphans, foreigners and the poor.
Exodus 22:22; Deuteronomy 10:18, 14:29, 16:10, 16:13-15, 24:19, 26:12, 26:13, 27:19; Job 22:9, 24:3, 31:16; Psalm 68:5, 94:6, 146:9; Proverbs 15:25; Isaiah 1:17, 1:23, 10:2; Jeremiah 7:6, 22:1, 49:11; Ezekiel 22:7, 22:25; Zechariah 7:10; Malachi 3:5; Isaiah 1:17
Mark 12:40 Contemporary English Version
But they cheat widows out of their homes and pray long prayers just to show off. They will be punished most of all.
Luke 20:47 Contemporary English Version
But they cheat widows out of their homes and then pray long prayers just to show off. These teachers will be punished most of all.
James 1:27 Contemporary English Version
Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world make you evil.
Paul's Rules for Widows
1 Corinthians 7:8-9
I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, it is good for them if they abide even as I. 9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.
Paul tells the widows in Corinth it's good to stay a widow, but they are free to remarry. No instructions beyond this. The Corinth church was free to help all widows.

Longevity In The Ancient World
https://earlychurchhistory.org/daily-li ... ent-world/
https://web.archive.org/web/20241227171 ... ent-world/ - https://archive.ph/YYDbH
There is little firm information about the collective lives of those who lived in the first centuries BC and the first centuries AD, but the conjecture is that the average life span was about 35 years.
The 35-40 average life span of people in the Western world held true through the Dark Ages, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance until the 19th and 20th centuries when modern medicine and its life-preserving discoveries began in earnest.
For thousands of years, life was uncertain but it was pretty certain the normal person would not live past 40 years.
Pauls letter to Timothy. (Ephesus)
1 Timothy 5:9
Let no one be enrolled as a widow under sixty years old, having been the wife of one man.
If a widow lives 20 years past her life expectancy and never remarries, then the church can help her.
What if she's 50? No.
What if she's been widowed twice? Nope.
How is a widow under 60 expected to live? Professional Beggar? Prostitution? Paul doesn't seem to care.
Why?
1 Timothy 5:11
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
Don't help the young widows, make them remarry.
If young widows marry again, it's because they're wanton against Christ. But paul says they're supposed to marry again.
1 Timothy 5:14
14 I will therefore that the younger women (widows) marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
Young widows need to marry again, have more children with a different father. And everyone lives happily ever after. not.
Why is Paul so concerned with excluding most of the widows from receiving help from the church in Ephesus? Why no rules like this for Corinth?

It's to make sure that men who run the church have double portions to give themselves, instead of giving to the poor, like Yahusha told them to.

• Paul Says Elders Are Entitled To Pay for 'Preaching & Teaching,' But Jesus Says No.
Micah 3:11 Contemporary English Version
You leaders accept bribes for dishonest decisions. You priests and prophets teach and preach, but only for money. Then you say, "The LORD is on our side. No harm will come to us."
Yahuah's condemnations of priests/prophets who take money.
Jeremiah 6:13; Isaiah 1:23, 56:11; Ezekiel 22:27; Jeremiah 5:31, 8:10; Zephaniah 3:3; Hosea 4:8
Jesus said.
Matthew 10:7-10 Contemporary English Version
7 As you go, announce that the kingdom of heaven will soon be here.
8 Heal the sick, raise the dead to life, heal people who have leprosy, and force out demons. You received without paying, now give without being paid.
9 Don't take along any gold, silver, or copper coins. 10 And don't carry a traveling bag or an extra shirt or sandals or a walking stick. Workers deserve their food.

Paul says

1 Timothy 5:17 Contemporary English Version
Church leaders who do their job well deserve to be paid twice as much, especially if they work hard at preaching and teaching.
Jesus is our only pastor and teacher, he doesn't need the money. He said give to the poor, not the pastor.
1 Corinthians 9:14 Contemporary English Version
In the same way, the Lord wants everyone who preaches the good news to make a living from preaching this message.
Don't forget to put the clergy in grand palaces, and give them a double portion, while the poor people starve.
Paul taught Prosperity Preaching 101. He probably needed a new airplane, and a trip to the Riviera.

• Jesus Teaches There Are Only 12 Apostles Into Eternity, But Paul Adds Himself To The List As a Thirteenth.
Acts 1:21-26 KJV
21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of his resurrection.
23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,
25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.
26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Revelation 21:12-14 KJV
12 And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
Paul called himself an Apostle, no one else did. He had the nerve to call himself the apostle to the gentiles. That was The Apostle Peter's calling, not Paul's. Robbing Peter to pay Paul, has an older meaning than I thought.
What did he do after Damascus? He spent 14+ years in Arabia. Someone must have told him there was a terrific 'Apostles Academy' there. Maybe he was learning how to supliment his 'tentmakers' income, by robbing widows. idk

The list is from the article I posted. I've been working off it. That man is a treasure, to me. Very grateful he was able to restore his website and utoob channel, after they were sabotaged. It's hard for me to read paul, without a tummy ache. This lawyers knowledge of greek and latin, his IQ and snarkiness, help me get through it.

God as my witness! I do not lie! I tell the truth!

Paul doth protest too much, methinks.
Romans 3:7 Common English Bible
But if God’s truth is demonstrated by my lie and it increases his glory, why am I still judged as a sinner?
Umm, because you're a sinful liar?
Romans 9:1 Common English Bible
I’m speaking the truth in Christ—I’m not lying, as my conscience assures me with the Holy Spirit:
What lie did the romans accuse him of?
1 Thessalonians 2:5 Common English Bible
As you know, we never used flattery, and God is our witness that we didn’t have greedy motives.
I wonder what those poor widows in Ephesus would have said about his motives?
Galatians 1:20 Common English Bible
Before God, I’m not lying about the things that I’m writing to you!
Philippians 1:18 - Common English Bible
What do I think about this? Just this: since Christ is proclaimed in every possible way, whether from dishonest or true motives, I’m glad and I’ll continue to be glad.
Well I'm certainly glad, one of us is glad.
1 Timothy 2:7 Common English Bible
I was appointed to be a preacher and apostle of this testimony—I’m telling the truth and I’m not lying! I’m a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
Now give me my double cut from the widows and orphans fund!
2 Corinthians 1:23 Common English Bible
I call on God as my witness—I didn’t come again to Corinth because I wanted to spare you.
2 Corinthians 11:31 Common English Bible
The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, the one who is blessed forever, knows that I’m not lying.
2 Corinthians 12:16 Common English Bible
We all know that I didn’t place a burden on you, but in spite of that you think I’m a con artist who fooled you with a trick.
Con Artist and Trickster. Yeah, that about sums it up.
2 Corinthians 12:19 Common English Bible
Have you been thinking up to now that we are defending ourselves to you? Actually, we are speaking in the sight of God and in Christ. Dear friends, everything is meant to build you up.
He must have told some whoppers to the people of Corinth.

I dare any honest parent to tell me Paul isn't a liar.
Did any of the Apostles have to assure people they weren't lying all the time?

God says.
Exodus 20:16 King James Version
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Isaiah 44:25 King James Version
That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
It's like Yahuah might have had some foreknowledge of pauls ministry.

There's more here: Psalm 116:11; Proverbs 17:4, 19:22, 30:6

Jesus says.
John 8:44 King James Version
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Pay attention Paul.
John 8:55 King James Version
Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
You never met him paul. You don't even know what he taught us.
Revelation 2:2 King James Version (Ephesus)
I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
It was the Apostle John who stepped in at Ephesus and fixed the damage Paul had done. Read The Acts of Timothy.
Revelation 21:8 King James Version
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Well, at least he'll have a warm reception.

John says.
1 John 1:10 King James Version
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 2:4 King James Version
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
Paul:
"Why should my freedom be limited?"
1 John 4:20 King James Version
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
Yeah Paul! Stop going around wishing for men to chop their sexual organs off! Why not pray for them?
1 John 5:10 King James Version
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
You know he's talking about the commandments. Right, Paul?

Paul lied in court too.
The lawyer explains it well.

TL/DR: Of course he lied! Are you nuts? And all the widows shouted, "Amen"
