The church's 'progressive' pastor Rev. Dawson B. Taylor resigned last week. It's unclear whether his resignation was as a result of the backlash to the event
The event comes after Florida passed a bill banning any discussion pertaining to 'sexual orientation' or 'gender identity' in schools for children up to third grade

On May 21st, The Youth Pride Conference at Naples United Church of Christ will subject minors to a drag show, discussions on forbidden queer literature, and discussions on “inclusive sex education.”
The United Church of Christ describes itself as a progressive church with “openness to a wide theological spectrum and a wide variety of lifestyles and orientations.,,
Unbeknownst to Collier Country Public Schools District (CCPS), a Naples school district, the organizer of the Youth Pride Conference planned to use the public schools as transit points to pick up and drop off students for the LGBTQ+ event. Despite efforts to indoctrinate the students of CCPS, the school district has rightly pushed back against this move and made the following statement:
“To this end, CCPS has spoken with the event organizer and explained that the information on the registration form, and any associated flyer, must be immediately corrected to reflect that CCPS is not a co-sponsor nor will it allow its school sites to be used as transit points for the pickup and drop-off of students for this event.”
Rev. Dawson B.Taylor, the former pastor of the Naples United Church, helped to organize the LBGTQ+ youth event. Taylor resigned from his position last week, which some suspect may be due to backlash over his rampant leftist activism.
