I merely point out that somebody cloned Voat, or something like it.

Is this not the code for voat?

https://github.com/voat/voat

Looks like it would be pretty simple to set it up.

In reference to the Voat source code. That code is seriously out of date. We could set it up but it'd be missing features and we'd have to do a bunch of pen testing to find all of the exploits Putt patched and never pushed to that public repo.

Voat's code should be abandoned. A clone of the site should be avoided, in my opinion. Improve, don't repeat the same mistakes.

Perhaps the most important question.

It was registered mid 2019. It could be a phishing site, a closed community or a test site from putt. No one knows at this point.

Yeah that's exactly why he says he's not handing over the code and not asking for donations.

This is what he posted here

No, you are. We are ALL willing to chip in, we all want Voat to stay up, it's just that it is only a temporary measure. We need to start from scratch with a new model, not bolt on to a flawed model and run into the same issues we've always had.

I don't want to burn people's cash delaying the inevitable. I'm saving you all some money by not wasting your money!
