What are people's thoughts as to Putt's lack of transparency about the (Fallen) Angel investor and his claim that money was the issue when clearly it was not? Many people (including professionals with deep pockets) offered to throw money at voat with no strings attached.

Probably several things. Even if he denied it there 100% is a contract that at least partially prevents him from talking about things. That's just how business work. Even if there wasn't, shitting all over a former employer is just bad news if you ever want a job that doesn't involve flipping burgers again.CognitiveDissident5 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 1:50 pm What are people's thoughts as to Putt's lack of transparency about the (Fallen) Angel investor and his claim that money was the issue when clearly it was not? I also got the impression he was worn out a bit. We as a collective really were an insufferable bunch. At his heart Puttsy is just a big fluffy care bear that wants people happy, but no matter what he did there were always someone there to tell him what a useless sack of shit he is. And there were always people there to hit that upvoat button to hammer home the point! Death by a 1000 paper cuts..
As far as the financials go, I think you are overestimating peoples willingness/capability to give. With charity and working around the Mastercard/Paypal ban we could have won some extra months sure, but we'd be dead in the water just moments later. Unless another individual with "fuck you money" presented himself it would just be prolonging the inevitable.
At the end of the day, I just don't think he had the heart to tell us why Voat failed..

It's pretty easy to see why an investor of Voat wouldn't want to be publicly named as such and why it would make sense for Putt to not disclose the name of said investor. Had Putt named them, that money would have been pulled long, long before it actually was after certain elements on reddit and twitter got word of it. In the end he did the best he could by basically pulling a warrant canary. He didn't outright name the investor, but he didn't deny who it was when confronted with their name.
As for the promises of donations, in the end they're meaningless. At best it would lead to delaying the inevitable by a few months because it wouldn't be sustainable. Maybe you get another year out of it, but then you're right back at the site in danger of being shuttered due to a lack of funds. Even the most generous eventually lose reason to give.
Voat closing down is kinda sad, but in the end I just find it hard to really care all that much. I'm from a time when site migrations where a common occurrence. The way I see it, we're in the censorship dystopia we're in now because of the total lack of recent migrations. There are people using the internet today, damn near adults, who are using websites that were around before they were born, and those websites are "the internet" to them.

Note the date. 8-10 goats sat quietly on this for 3 months precisely because of the damage we knew it might cause if we we're wrong!

I know about the jewish connections of those companies if that's what you mean. Someone did a detailed post on it somewhere.
There was nothing stopping him from giving a decent period of notice to enable plans to be made - anyway, it doesn't matter now; we have this place thanks to one enterprising goat. Hope it grows. I plan to throw in some shekels but have to wait to get a friend of a friend of a friend to do it on my behalf because paypal bocked me years ago. Can barely articulate my hatred of those fuckers - and yeah I know bitcoin is a thing but I'm too old to figure it out.
