Honestly, this shit gets more serious everyday...
First I was like, Voat is shutting down, must be the jews again. Then I read around and saw the funding was okay, then I saw people being herded to Poal, then I saw the joke not joke, "I own Poal" from putt, then I saw the resistance to decentralized solutions, and now I don't know what to make of my fellow Goats. Where has all that healthy paranoia gone? Is everyone really going to go to one place and just shout nigger into an empty room?
Facing facts, we've now reached a point where Goats should be on the attack. We need some boards for general chatter, some for research, in particular pizzagate, that always gets banned the fuck down whenever they're following something juicy, and we need a slack group on the side as a back up. We need to be using PGP so we can confirm that it is the same person in each place (not identities per se). We also need a repository that is not AWS based, even Mega will not do.
Why so many are resistant to this is beyond me. It's like they all want to hide under a fucking rock called Poal and wait for the next culling. That is how Sheep behave, not Goats. I've kept Goats before and they are 10/10 tricky fuckers, can confirm. Tell me why I'm wrong. Please.

First off, hello faggot!
To answer your question: It is because the vast majority of people, even our fellow Goats, need to have their backs against a wall (literally) to act. I am talking real shit like Internet shut down, Feds in your front yard, Jamal black breeding your wife and daughter level shit. It is only a select few who will attack even if times are good and you feel comfy.
We just haven't hit THAT point yet for a lot of folks, its human nature.

Yep. So long as we're still comfortable, despite the bullshit going on, it'll be too late. It's part of their plan, the boiling frog theory and all.SteffisCute wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 11:15 am First off, hello faggot!

I'm just trying to get my health back (again), juicing a bit to counter the incessant soy as I realign my diet, working out, growing shit, and stacking cash. Oh, Betty is coming home too. Now I just gotta get her some food.

Exactly how do you suggest we fight? Putt was handed Voat from Atko. Akto was honorable. He didn't like running the board, so he gave it to someone he trusted would do the job well.
Trust misplaced imo.
Has Puttitout offered to hand the site over to us despite us funding a large portion of it?
No.
He sold it as evidenced by the site code becoming proprietary.
Site code he had help from several Goats creating and porting.
So again, what do you suggest? A classaction lawsuit?
Trust misplaced imo.

The only ones who ever really helped with coding were Fuzz and Cyn. The rest of the users just helped test the code.Ina_Pickle wrote: ↑Fri Dec 25, 2020 2:15 am Exactly how do you suggest we fight? Some rights to Voat may have ended up being sold as part of PIA-deals, which may explain the switch to edon garden proprietary code. We all know PIA was bought out. That could have something to do with the fact that they eventually decided to default on their contract. We really have no sufficient reason to believe it is anything more than Putt says - that funding options have expired. Yes, there are tons of users offering to throw money at it - but even in the CC days we only managed to get pledges to cover $1500/month, and that was when costs were over $5000/month. And that's without considering how many people who make pledges but won't follow through or who give up after two months. Add to that the fact that CC isn't even an option anymore, and hasn't been for years, and you have a very serious difficulty - managing to coax, reliably, $2000ish a month, in CRYPTO, from a dying userbase. It just isn't viable. Putt recognized it isn't viable. That's why he said years ago Voat needed a sponsor to survive. Voat got a sponsor and he leapt at the opportunity because it was the only long-term viable option. The sponsor bailed and so Voat is screwed. Whether this conclusion that Voat has no options is ultimately true or not, it IS true that one can at least reasonably hold this position, as Putt does. So for him to make this decision is completely in keeping with his experience and knowledge of Voat's situation.

Peace, Ive been more of a lurker for ~5.5 years on vote. And honestly I had the exact same thought. It's not some big elaborate mossad honey pot ( Israel has over 600 active nuclear warheads ). It's that Voat was a labour not of love but of respect for the ideals of free speech but this ideal had a literal monetary price tag and requires a lot of man hours. If I ran my contracts like Putt ran Voat would have been in the red around 2017 given the figures of 5k/mo in server cost alone.

Renting a storage server may be feasible, or colocating a server or two in a DC. Costs are not too bad. I colo clients for ~$150 a pop, but charge bandwidth on top as that shit's not cheap until you are a giant.MarauderShields wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 8:54 am We also need a repository that is not AWS based, even Mega will not do.
Equinix Metal has servers designed for storage, but you're talking ~$1400 a month for 1 server, at that rate its better to buy a few cheaper options and colo them.
Gigabyte makes cheap servers with lots of storage options.

Quite simply, the system we need does not exist. So we have to make it. Ourselves. In our time. On our own dime.
We cannot rely on anyone else to give this to us as a finished product as it'll be back-doored to hell. So, if what we need is not available, we must do it, otherwise what? Who will?
You'll be "given" 2 hours off-work to get your plebbit/twatter combination brain implant, and then sent back to your Amazon wagie-cage with a bug snack for good behavior?
Yes, yes, yes... believe me when I say I know all about, *but family, *but, work, *but... 10,000 other things. Voat, for some strange reason, apparently matters. Maybe more to them than us. Remember that you are in an information war right now. Think about it.
This is now digital Skunkworks, without the funding. Not because it's cool, but because that's what it *has* to be. Regarding funding, make it a project, regarding access, make it a project, regarding XYZ, make it a project. Eat the elephant piece by piece. Breakout groups are already forming. If you want in and have skills, and a little bit of time (and I mean a little bit), pm me.
There are people from all walks of life here, one or two are even smart and motivated, lol. The doors are open for us on several platforms, for now, including decentralized ones. You may not know it but this is Voat-Dunkirk. It is still happening *now*.
For now I'm on Poal, obviously, the same as everyone else, but I'm also working on IPFS and Aether. I'm not even leading the strikeforce out there on Aether.
Doing our own thing, breaking the mold and making something from nothing, that is how we attack. (For real, anyone that knows me, knows that in reality I faint at sight of blood.) I'm talking about making something powerful, open, easy to use on multiple platforms that makes https look like a duplo dildo. Freedom of speech is something that cannot be sacrificed, and, much as it pains me to say it, that applies even to retards, commies and retarded commies.

I am at a loss how you can have sites like Voat totally dedicated to degeneracy like Furry roleplay or Brony water sports artwork and fanfiction of anime cat girls and they all seem to survive with enough funding but a place devoted to free speech can't.
Oh that's right.....
JEWS!!!!

So basically everything you mentioned is available on zeronet, you can host your site on your own P.C. and bandwidth will be distributed across all of the users of your site. ZeroVoat already exist although it doesn't have many users right now.MarauderShields wrote: ↑Sat Dec 26, 2020 12:29 amQuite simply, the system we need does not exist. So we have to make it.
