The cat was saved by a group of Miami fans who used an American flag to break its fall.

"In a bizarre sequence at Hard Rock Stadium during the Miami–Appalachian State game, a cat was dangling from the upper deck and fell into a crowd of fans who used an American flag to break its fall. "

It remains unknown how the cat managed to get inside the Hard Rock Stadium or who it belongs to, but 7News has learned it left the venue with a woman on Saturday night.

Latest update on Patriot Cat (my nickname for it) aka #HardRockCat:

Interview with 2 women who handled the cat afterwards, one saw that the cat was okay, but passed it off to another young woman who popped one of it's hips back into place, she wasn't sure about the whether the other hip needed the same but as the cat was biting it had to be set down. It ran away ended up biting a couple of other people along the way and then went MIA. I suspect it probably found a place to hide and recover from the fear.
