Prince Andrew’s presence in the Ghislaine Maxwell trial was most keenly felt in a photograph he didn’t appear in.
Government exhibit GX-347 showed a picture of Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein on a porch bench in the grounds of the Queen’s Balmoral estate in the Scottish Highlands.
The photo was taken on a trip the pair took to the royal manor in 1999 as the guest of Prince Andrew.
On the 1999 trip to Balmoral, Prince Andrew, Epstein and Maxwell were joined by an entourage that included young women.
One of the group told The Daily Mail they had stayed in the 52-room castle before being entertained on the grounds of the 50,000 acre estate.

300 Years of Freemasonry Celebrated at Royal Albert Hall Global Event
Over 4,000 Masons from 136 Grand Lodges around the world embrace Freemasonry’s rich heritage and relevance today at the culmination of the United Grand Lodge of England’s Tercentenary year.
• Performances by the renowned Sir Derek Jacobi, Samantha Bond and Sanjeev Bhaskar showcased Freemasonry’s unique history
• Monumental 55ft gold Square and Compasses frame a musical performance by the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra
• Official Tercentenary celebration presided over by HRH The Duke of Kent, Grand Master.
• 2017 marks the founding of the world’s first Grand Lodge in London 1717.
October 31 2017: Freemasons from around the world gathered in the Royal Albert Hall to celebrate their Tercentenary.
It marked 300 years from 1717, when four lodges had met at the Goose and Gridiron Tavern in St Paul’s Churchyard to form the first Grand Lodge.
Presided over by the Grand Master, HRH The Duke of Kent, over 4,000 Masons from 136 Grand Lodges enjoyed a theatrical extravaganza produced and directed by leading impresarios Matthew Mitchell and Richard Clifford.
The cast was headed by acclaimed actors Sir Derek Jacobi, Samantha Bond and Sanjeev Bhaskar against the backdrop of a specially created colossal 55ft gold Square and Compasses - the universally recognised symbol of Freemasonry. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, along with soprano Fleur de Bray provided the musical accompaniment.
With a combination of entertainment and education, the stunning production featured a dramatic light show incorporating the ‘All Seeing Eye’. The celebration showcased the unique heritage of Freemasonry, highlighting its role and relevance across the ages and in society today.
The Tercentenary event was also streamed live to audiences around the world, including UGLE’s headquarters at Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden, London. There are around six million Freemasons worldwide, with over 200,000 in the UK under UGLE.
Speaking of the celebration, Brigadier Willie Shackell, Grand Secretary of the United Grand Lodge of England, said: “The event was a true showcase of what Freemasonry is all about, our unique history and strong traditions and values - integrity, kindness, honesty, fairness and tolerance. I feel that Freemasonry’s role and relevance in society today could not be stronger and we now look forward to our journey through the next 300 years”
Lodge Meeting in Solomon’s Quarries, Jerusalem

A few months ago, I was contacted by a good friend and Brother George Shukha, from a lodge in Israel, who informed me about a lodge meeting in Solomon’s Quarries, a rather famous cave in Jerusalem, very well known in Masonic circles. The photos of the event were captivating, and the meeting included a lecture by Brother Yosef Bahar. Solomon’s Quarries – known as Zedekiah’s Cave – is situated under the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem, and is believed to have been the quarries that supplied the stone for the Temple. Cherub graffiti was found in the cave by a nineteenth century French archaeologist, which has been used to support that the quarries were used in Solomon’s time, and Masonic lodges have met in the cave since the later nineteenth century. Brother Bahar then emailed with more photographs and details of this historical event.
As Brother Bahar explained ‘It all started when brethren from “Cukurova Lodge” in Adana (a city in the south-eastern part of Turkey) invited me on March 2015, to give a lecture on Zedekiah’s Cave – King Solomon’s Quarries. I gave the lecture, the brethren liked it and were very interested to visit Jerusalem and have a lodge meeting in the cave. So our “Nur Lodge” in Tel-Aviv (it is a Turkish speaking-working lodge) made all the preparations and logistics and on the 7th of September 2015, we had a working in the cave. Thirty two brethren from Nur Lodge and 130 visiting Brethren from Turkey—Including the Grand Masters—participated on that lodge meeting. They asked me to repeat my lecture for the brethren who did not hear it (there were brothers from Istanbul and Izmir). The lecture was in Turkish and a Hebrew translation printed for the Israeli brethren. Attached are pictures of the cave prepared for that occasion.’
